Get Involved

RtF is a collaborative effort of individuals, non-profit groups, corporations, and open source communities, all with a shared goal of making the Web accessible to everyone. We're modeling our approach after that of the open source movement, with an emphasis on broad involvement of the community, and we need help from people with a wide variety of backgrounds and skills. RtF is just getting off the ground, and this is a great time to join the Initiative as an early contributor!

3 Options to Explore Your Opportunities within RtF

1) Use one of these Easy Ways for Everyone to Get Involved

The quickest ways to become a part of the Raising the Floor movement.

  • Check for opportunities on the list of People Needed.
  • Join our mailing lists. Join the News & Announcement list for the latest information and opportunities, or join one of our topic-based lists at the Mailing Lists page.
  • Spread the word. It's simple, it's easy, and it's powerful. Tell your friends and family about the work we're doing, the solutions that we have available, and the ways that they can help out. Or post bulletins at your local university, computer lab, retirement home, or wherever else you think there may be people who could benefit from or contribute to the RtF initiative. For more ideas on how to get people involved, or to join the awareness effort, get in touch with the Awareness Strategy and Planning Group.
  • Donate. Make a monetary donation to RtF.  Donations as small as $5 add up if many people all donate a little. See the Donations Page for more information.
  • Contribute your project. Already have an access project in progress that you'd like to work on in conjunction with RtF? Send an email to Contribution@RaisingTheFloor.net with [NEW] in the subject line and let us know what you're working on.
  • Share your ideas. Have a great idea, but no idea how to get started? Let the access feature group know by emailing Contribution@RaisingTheFloor.net with [MasterList] in the subject line. They'll add it to the list of features that we're looking for, and, if you're idea sounds promising, it could become a future RtF development project

2) Follow one of these links to learn more about RtF opportunities that relate to your interests.

3) Take the Interest-Inventory

The interest inventory describes all of the current areas of activity within RtF and gives you a chance to indicate your level of interest in each ranging from offering to help lead an effort to just wanting to follow the progress of a project.
