CapScribe

CapScribe Web - Captioning in a Web Browser Near You

CapScribe Web is currently in development at the Adaptive Technology Resource Center (ATRC). The goal behind this project is to give users ready, free access to captioning software that runs as part of a web page. The software can be accessed remotely by a URL. Once accessed, users can work with the remote version or keep a local copy on the desktop for times when the internet is not available.

CapScribe Web will be available initially in Safari and Firefox browsers and work on Mac and Windows systems. Additional browsers and Linux OS support will be added as time and funding permit. User testing for CapScribe Web starts this January. To learn more, go to the Capscribe Web App page.

CapScribe Desktop - Available Now for Captioning and Describing Your Videos

CapScribe Desktop is ever evolving desktop captioning and video description software. CapScribe Desktop supports captioning for Quicktime movies, movies uploads to YouTube, as well as the creation of video description audio tracks. CapScribe Desktop runs on Intel Macs and is available for download and exploration. To learn more, and download the free software, go to the Capscribe Desktop App page. (If you are looking for a free Windows editor, see Magpie from NCAM.)
