Seizure Risk Detector

The goal of this project is to provide real-time screening of online videos to detect and prevent animations, such as flashing, that could trigger epileptic seizures. It will build off of the Trace Center's Photosensitive Epilepsy Analysis Tool (PEAT) to create a user-friendly epilepsy screening tool. Initial web service implementations will allow users to submit videos to a remote server and receive a report on its epilepsy risks.
Future implementations are planned to look at streaming videos in real-time, identify dangerous flashing, and pause or black out the video briefly to break up the flashing and greatly reduce the risk of photosensitive epilepsy seizures. This project is closely related to the Epilepsy Prevention developer tools project.
The project is currently on hold pending funding. The Trace Center's analysis tool can be downloaded free from the PEAT homepage.
